I Loved Chelsea Flea Market, lived in the Bronx 40 yrs and never adventured down to the market. Thanks to " HANK" it was an organized outing. It is the perfect encompassing size, and they have all kinds of trinkets, clothes, figurines, and coins. At this time in my life (66), I yarn for the jewelry of Mother's jewelry box, the lapel pins that you wear on a Jackie Onassis style blazer And OMG! I got the blazer and pin for $20. The next time I go , I'm wearing my robe and slippers because I will be investing some quality time! Sat and Sun.

Jewelry heavy stalls. High prices demand haggling. Fun hangouts

there are no owners on the market. all dealers. many things have no evidence of vintage, and resellers simply come up with prices that they like. many fakes. my advice to you is not to buy anything there, you will overpay 1000% for the item. and beware of Russian sellers, ordinary old stuff, they sell for a high price, suggesting to you that it is vintage. and they are also very rude and can offend you.

good place for a short visit. interesting folk of visitors. sellers are not very inteesting, mostly unlike other flea markets, people are somehow sure that, in general, it is usually for people who collect old things, especially from emigrants from the ussr. that they have something unique and very expensive in their hand. so it is unlikely that you will buy something but enjoy it. asking prices at the highest level in existence at expensive antique shops and auctions for stuff that i know

Interesting place, all sorts of knick-knacks. Beads, clothes, furniture, records, jewellery, watches. Much of it old and barley saleable. Some hidden gems of course. Some of it highly overpriced. Some vendor tried to explain to me that a beaded bangle was between 500 and 2000 years old which was clearly nonsense. Worth a visit just to look.

Saturdays and Sundays 9ish-3ish is ideal. Often different vendors on both days. You never know what you'll find -- many excellent pieces and lots of fleas. There's no charge to enter, as there used to be. There's a coffee shop across the street that's perfect for your flea drink. There's also an auction house and antique gallery across the street. Have fun!
